So Ill start with Final Fantasy 4
Final Fantasy 4 was first released as Final Fantasy 2 here in the united states, why becuase the japanese ff2 and ff3 weren't conserd good enough to be released here in the states. It came out on the snes in 1991. Since then it was portend to the playstaion and gameboy advanced. This year Final Fantasy 4 was again released for the DS, however instead of a port it was remade into a 3d game complete with voice acting. I just got this one but am very exited to start playing it as it was one of my all time top fav games.
Next up is the greatest rpg of all times, fact. Chrono Trigger

This game was also released for the snes. It came out in 1995. Then was ported to the playstaion with animation added. Its comeing out this year for the DS as a port not a remake like final fantasy 4. The game has a great story, great music, charicaters. And its not as hard core as final fantasy. It would be a good first rpg. I Cant wait for this one. A side note, If the red head looks like a Sūpā Saiya-jin its becuase the characters of Chrono Trigger were designed by Akira Toriyama, creator of the manga Dragon Ball.

Next Is called Dragon Quest 4
This one First came out on the nes in 1990. And also ported to the playstaion. For the Ds its getting a fresh face, not a 2d to 3d upgrade like final fantasy 4 but more than the crono trigger port. Its also the first of 3 dragon quest games to be remade for the ds. This one is four, five and six are also on the way. and a new dragon quest is also in the works as the ninth in the series. Another difference from this game and the other two i have talked about is that it wasn't made by square, it was made by enix, but since the two companies merged it really dosn't matter today, just a side note that this game was the compition to squares final fantasy. Also i have never played this game in any form. A long time ago i played the first dragon quest, but that was the only one i have played of the series. I have however played EVERY single final fantasy game.So What do these games have in common. They were all relased around the same time, early 90's. They have all seen multiple ports, started off on a nintendo system and then went to the playstaion, and then went back to a nintendo system. Why is that Cause there all great games. RPGs really require some dedication to play, you cant just pick up the game and be done with it in an hour or two. Some rpgs take 30 plus hours to complete. Maybe thats why you dont see too many rpgs being released today. I think the younger new gamer just wants some mindless shoot'em up with deathmatch and achevments and noob this and owns that. wich is too bad cause if you have the time these games are really great games. So take a look, give one a try. I bet you will be suprised how low the standers for games are today compared to these great games.
